    Research Technician: Analytical Services (Pretoria Central)

    Description
    Analytical and Diagnostic Services

    • Receive, register, final review of results and report on analyses.
    • Invoicing on lab management system.
    • Client liaison.
    • Organize workflow and ensure that samples are tested in accordance with customer requests.
    • Develop, evaluate, validate and implement test methods in the laboratory.
    • Implement and update technical SOPs.
    • Perform routine plant and soil analysis on CHNS analyzer and other laboratory instruments.
    • Do trouble shooting on equipment and procedures used in the lab.
    • Calibrate and maintain equipment.
    • Maintain and update lab book and filling of raw data, all reports and invoices for the project.
    • Plan work activities as directed by work schedule.
    • Train personnel and interns on different techniques.
    • Maintain a clean work area and facilities.
    • Quality Control
    • Maintain the quality control system and, therefore, follow all QC procedures and SOPs.
    • Write and update methods and validation documents.
    • Monitor analytical standards.
    • Verify or calibrate equipment as required.
    • Laboratory Safety and Compliance
    • Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
    • Supervise OHS regulations in the laboratory.
    • Adhere to good housekeeping and GLP in the lab.

    Requirements

    • National Diploma or degree in Analytical Chemistry.
    • 3-5 years’ experience in plant and soil analysis methods, performing routine analysis on CHNS analyzer.
    • Knowledge on how to process and interpret data from the instrument is important.
    • Registration with relevant scientific body would be an advantage.
    • Computer literacy.
    • Good communication and planning skills.
