Perform serological tests for the vector-borne parasitic diseases.
Entry of results into Access Database and drafting of letters.
Responsible for hard copy and computer record keeping of results.
Diagnostic samples: Receiving, identifying, allocating, preparing and processing samples in such a way as to ensure that all the blood and serum samples of an individual animal correspond.
Assist in research on the attenuated heartwater vaccine.
Procurement of laboratory reagents.
Performing parasite counts using flow cytometer.
Performing molecular assays for detection of heartwater.
Performing cell culture of heartwater vaccine.
Responsible for normal housekeeping duties such as recording temperatures of fridges & freezers, quality control, maintenance of apparatus etc.
Adhering to all Safety and GLP rules and regulations.
Requirements
National Diploma/ BTech/ Bachelor of Health Science (Veterinary Technologist/Microbiology/Biochemistry/Molecular Biology)
Must be registered with SAVC.
Knowledge of veterinary bacterial pathogens and diseases.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrate the ability to work within a team.Description
