Resource Coordinator at South African Airways Technical (SAAT)

Job Purpose    

• The Resource Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that strategic material planning processes are in place to support uninterrupted production and operational continuity. The role ensures accurate forecasting, timely availability of materials, optimal inventory levels, and efficient planning processes while supervising a team of material controllers to deliver high-quality operational support.

Principal Accountabilities    
Material Planning & Scheduling

• Supervise material controllers to ensure material requirements are accurately and timeously determined.
• Ensure material scheduling strategies are effective and aligned with production requirements while minimizing inventory levels and costs.
• Oversee the availability of materials for production schedules and resolve issues related to shortages, over delivery, or under delivery.

Inventory Management

• Supervise inventory risk and ensure contingency plans are in place to mitigate supply risks.
• Ensure inventory accuracy, correct stock levels, and integrity of Bills of Materials (BOM).
• Monitor the movement, storage, and distribution of materials for efficiency and accuracy.

System & Process Optimization

• Utilize AMOS system to ensure effective material requirements planning.
• Lead process improvements, drive best practices, and contribute to the development of planning policies and procedures.
• Analyse performance data to identify trends, address planning issues, and support decision making.

Supplier & Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate with procurement to ensure timely delivery and resolve delays, discrepancies, or supply chain issues.
• Work closely with production, maintenance planning, engineering, purchasing, and logistics to ensure alignment of material supply with operational requirements.Oversee labelling and documentation processes to ensure correct materials reach required destinations on time.

Leadership & Team Development

• Lead, supervise, coach, and develop the material planning team to achieve department goals.
• Communicate expectations, monitor workflow, provide performance feedback, and promote continuous improvement.
• Provide training and support to enhance team skillsets and prepare staff for advanced responsibilities.

Reporting & Compliance

• Prepare and present material planning reports, metrics, and operational data for management.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, inventory procedures, and material handling regulations.
• Manage obsolete and excess materials to minimize waste and financial impact.

Qualifications & Experience    

• Grade 12
• Driver’s License (Code B)

Qualification in project management - Advantageous

• Aviation Technician with 1 year planning experience - Essential

Or

• 3 years’ experience Planner/Production Control - Essential
