Overall Purpose:  

• Zutari Tshwane / Cape Town is currently looking for a Contracts Engineer (contracts specialist) to join their team, responsible for contracts management within the projects environment, with a special focus on SANRAL Projects.  

Minimum Requirements:

• BSc or BEng in Civil Engineering  
• Pr. Eng Registration with ECSA
• Pr CPM Registration with SACPCMP will be an advantage
• Minimum 10 years working experience in Contract administration as “Employer’s Agent”, “Engineer”, Principal Agent” or similar
• Experience as Contract Engineer on SANRAL projects is non-negotiable
• Thorough working knowledge of Conditions of Contract (FIDIC 1999, NEC 3/4, GCC 2010/2015 and JBCC) 
• Thorough working knowledge of specifications and Bill of Quantities (COLTO / COTO, SANS 1200, project specific etc.) 
• Proficient Microsoft Office skills required
• Excellent Communication and Interpersonal skills
• Excellent client relation skills

In addition to the above, the Applicant is required to submit his experience on three of his most recent projects (<10 years ago) which complies with all of the parameters below:

• Relevance of Experience (Position Held)
• The Applicant is required to have experience in at least one of the following Positions (indicate position held for each of three projects):
• Contracts Engineer
• Project leader
• Contracts Engineer (Toll)
• Contracts Manager (Toll)
• Resident Engineer (less preferred)
• Relevance of Experience (Client)
• The experience should be with Client bodies being either South African National Roads Authority and/or Concessionaire and/or Provincial Authority (indicate relevant client body for each of three projects).
• Relevance of Experience (Project Type)
• The Applicant is required to have experience as the Contracts Engineer or Resident Engineer (less preferred) in “Development” Improvement” (Road upgrades) and/or “Development New Facilities” (New Road Infrastructure projects) (indicate relevant project type for each of three projects). Structural Experience would be beneficial.
• Responsibilities and/or additional skill requirements: Project Delivery:
• To act as Engineer, Principal Agent, Employer’s agent or similar on numerous projects.
• Leading and managing teams on site(s)
• Contractor's claims and disputes handling in terms of Construction Contract
• Manage all aspects of variations concerning the various projects worked on.
• Manage all other commercial and contractual processes
• Ensure compliance with OH&S and environmental requirements
• Deliver excellent client service
• Coaching and mentoring junior technical staff
• Apply Site Management System based on ISO 9001 QMS
