    SATIC: Financial Services Lawyer (Derivatives)

    Summary:

    • You will support and, depending on experience, independently review, draft, amend and negotiate a range of financial services legal documents, including ISDA Master Agreements, Schedules, Credit Support Annexes, Master Repurchase Agreements, Securities Lending Agreements, Futures Trading Agreements, Clearing Agreements, Prime Brokerage Agreements and related ancillary documents.
    • You will also work with playbooks, templates, fallback positions and agreed legal and commercial risk parameters; prepare mark-ups, issue logs, summaries and advice notes; identify and escalate non-standard issues where required; support execution, approvals and matter management; maintain accurate records; contribute to templates, clause libraries and know-how; support technology-enabled legal delivery; and, where appropriate, provide informal support to junior colleagues.

    Location: Cape Town, Durban or Waterfall, Johannesburg.

    Qualifications /Certifications Required:

    • LLB or equivalent legal qualification.

    Experience Required:

    • 1–3 years’ relevant experience in a law firm, financial institution, in-house legal team or managed legal services environment.
    • Exposure to, or experience in, financial services documentation, derivatives, trading agreements or transactional legal work.
    • Strong drafting, analytical and organisational skills.
    • Attention to detail, clear communication skills and the ability to manage multiple matters under time pressure.
    • Confidence using Microsoft 365 and document comparison tools.

    Desirable Skill Sets Include:

    • Experience with derivatives or financial markets documents, regulated counterparties, legal technology tools and process improvement will be advantageous.
    • Admission as an attorney will be beneficial, but is not essential, and we welcome applications from candidates with strong relevant experience regardless of admission status.
