    Schools Liaison Officer (AD08)

    Main Purpose:

    The Schools Liaison Office in the Registrar’s Division is seeking a high calibre, hard-working and high-achieving candidate that is motivated, energetic and passionate about joining this world class university as a Schools Liaison Officer. The main function of the Schools Liaison Officer is to recruit academically excellent students to the University. The incumbent will be responsible for operationalizing the enrolment and recruitment strategies of the University by servicing both the University’s current feeder schools as well as establishing relations with new target schools within Gauteng and the provinces.

    Key responsibilities:

    • Recruit academically excellent students to the University (schools in Gauteng and further afield -based on data analysis)
    • A key performance area is providing information on, and career options for the various qualifications offered by the University
    • Prepare and conduct excellent, vibrant and energetic PowerPoint presentations to a variety of target audiences both online and face to face
    • Meeting and exceeding Gauteng schools, regional schools, project and stakeholder relations targets
    • Attend selected school-based career expos and evenings as well as strategic organisation based career expos including community engagement & ad-hoc events
    • Maintain accurate and updated information on the University’s database including Student Information Management System (SIMS).
    • Manage all allocated strategic recruitment and relationship building projects and events

    Requirements:

    • Matric with a Bachelor’s degree - NQF Level 7 (or equivalent), either in Marketing, Sales, Student Recruitment or Education and/or any other relevant degree
    • The candidate should have a 3 year track record in either a Marketing, Sales, Student Recruitment or Education environment (advantageous – 5 years or more)
    • The successful applicant should have proven computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point, databases) coupled with excellent presentation skills as a large percentage of the job involves presenting to diverse audiences
    • A valid unendorsed driver’s license, as the incumbent is expected to travel extensively both locally and provincially. He/she would be required to work beyond standard business hours regularly and over some weekends
    • Networking skills, report writing ability, driving and travelling experience, stakeholder & relationship management, good administrative skills, communicate with diverse audiences, good public speaker, adept at presentations and project & event management
    • High level of professionalism, excellent customer service, ability to pay attention to detail, integrity and accountability are essential
    • Good communication skills and ability to manage pressure
    • Agile, adaptable and flexible so as to adjust to changing environments
    • Be positive about new ideas, innovations and collaborations. Be solution orientated and a problem solver at all times. Have a positive and can do attitude. Be hardworking
    • Enjoy working with young people and want to motivate learners to achieve their highest potential. Not just target driven as career advisory extends beyond regular work targets and every additional learner advised can help contribute to the university and country as a whole
    • Team player and supportive of team members. To be collegial, collaborative and assist with work that can help the university especially if it is recruitment orientated
    • Be courteous, respectful, professional and kind to external stakeholders and fellow staff members at all times
    • Be an excellent brand ambassador at all times. Be the go to person for all school related queries and be the link between high schools and Wits
