Appointment requirements

• Grade 12
• A relevant qualification in horticulture will be an added advantage
• At least six months’ relevant experience in a horticultural environment
• A valid Code C1/EC1 driving licence with a valid professional driving permit
• Physical fitness and health
• Must undergo a criminal record check and such a person shall allow their fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost
• Willingness and ability to work shifts

Personal attributes and/or competencies

• Self-driven and having initiative; good communication skills to manage personnel in a specific section; good driving behaviour; cognitive ability to work under pressure; ability to work in a group

Primary functions

• Assist with horticultural development and maintenance of traffic islands, boulevards, cemeteries, sport facility and resorts
• Effectively assist in the management of the team
• Assist in the provision and maintenance of decorative parks and play parks
• Carry out horticultural pest control
• Assist the horticulturist with planning and upgrading parks
• Assist the depot in adhering to policies and occupational health and safety regulations
• Install irrigation in parks
