    Senior Bookkeeper, RSA

    Description

    WhereIsMyTransport is a globally distributed scale-up revolutionising the way public transport information from emerging-market megacities can be accessed and understood. Using geospatial data collection, we untangle the mysteries of dynamic public transport networks - knowledge which, when shared, improves understanding and creates a more equitable society.     We are looking for an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to manage the day-to-day accounting and finance-related administration for our fast-growing international organization. The role will report to our Management Accountant and will work closely with our broader business operations.

    This is a pivotal role that sits at the center of our operation. In addition to general bookkeeping, you will be responsible for the day-to-day supplier management and payments, customer invoicing and collection. We are an upbeat, ambitious, hard-working team with a clear vision and drive to succeed. You would need to be comfortable working in a fast paced environment that is ever changing with an appreciation for our sense of humor.

    First six month goals for this new role:

    Within the first six months, you should be confident of:

    • Transaction processing to meet month-end deadlines

    • Applying excellent time management skills to prioritise tasks accordingly.

    • Implementing an efficient communication system with different teams to ensure that transactions are processed effectively.

    • Maintain monthly schedules, such as the fixed asset register

    Overview of key responsibilities:

    As part of our Finance team, your core responsibilities will be to:

    • Accurately analyze and record all financial transactions according to accounting principles.

    • Maintain general ledger including debtor and creditor management.

    • Manage day-to-day financial administration such as staff expenses and credit card payments as well as accounting and record keeping .

    • Collate and draft payment schedules

    • Attend to all aspects of day-to-day banking including bank reconciliation.

    • Manage, record and maintain asset registers.

    • Perform balance sheet reconciliations.

    • Draft month end journals.

    • Prepare VAT returns.

    • Ensure adherence to various internal control policies and facilitate the roll out of the same.

    • Maintaining a filing system in respect of accounting data, documents.

    Requirements

    • Bookkeeping up to and including trial balance experience.

    • Solid experience working in a similar role with a relevant financial bookkeeping certificate or diploma.

    • Experience working with a range of financial and accounting software; Xero and Google Sheets/Excel preferable.

    • Experience working with group structures and multi currencies

    • A strong foundation in dealing with PAYE, VAT and other statutory returns.
