    Senior Credit Analyst

    The Credit Risk Management function manages credit risk on all credit exposures within the Ashburton Investments portfolios. This process covers the sourcing, pricing, initial analysis and ongoing monitoring of credit exposures of Ashburton. These exposures will form part of the credit co-investment funds as well as full discretionary mandates on both local and offshore. This role will report directly to the Head of Credit Risk Management. The role of the Senior Credit Analyst is to provide analysis and recommendations on potential credit investments as an input into the credit risk management and investment processes.

    Role Responsibilities

    • Maintain relationships with issuers and debt originators to ensure credit investment opportunities are identified for inclusion in portfolios
    • Analyze new credit investments and make recommendations for portfolio inclusions
    • Monitor existing investments within the portfolios
    • Perform specialized credit analysis (high yield, project finance & SME funding)
    • Maintain updated information per investment
    • Prepare and submit credit applications to the Ashburton Investments Credit Committee for approval of new credits
    • Report to the Committee on credit issues within the portfolio
    • Integrate market information into investment views in the form of setting pricing levels in partnership with portfolio managers
    • Assist the Distribution and Marketing departments with client communications and investment presentations
    • Present at client events and provide thought leadership contributions
    • Mentor/support team members and assist with review of credit applications
    • Restructuring/workouts of credit investments
    • Ongoing credit monitoring
    • Participate as an active voting member of the Ashburton Investments Credit Committee.

    Experience and Qualifications

    • The successful candidate must have a relevant financial B-Degree
    • CA (SA), CFA or other relevant degree is a distinct advantage
    • Minimum 5 years relevant credit experience in a banking or asset management environment
    • Financial statement analysis
    • Experience in analyzing and participating in both listed and unlisted credit markets
    • Knowledge across a broad range of industries
    • Detailed understanding of facility agreements
    • Experience in pricing credit instruments

    Additional Requirements

    • In accordance with National Credit Act (NCA) candidates applying for this role will require a credit record check.
