Senior Database Engineer (RSA Remote) - Total Plan at Burgiss

About the Role:

• We are seeking a talented and entrepreneurial Senior Database Engineer who is a team player by nature, to contribute to the development of the firm's core application in an energetic, fast-paced environment. The role provides a great opportunity to develop and maintain substantial portions of the system, from design and architecture to implementation and deployment. This is a full-time position.
• The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining large-scale relational databases with complex sets of dataset relations. The Senior Database Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams and participate in Agile SDLC execution to ensure database performance, security, and scalability. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have experience with SQL database projects, including the development, maintenance, and deployment thereof as it relates to dacpac files, and a demonstrable understanding of and participation in the establishment and/or maintenance and execution of CI/CD processes.
• Our technology stack includes but is not limited to SQL Server, MongoDB, .NET Core, Docker Containers, Angular11+, Azure, AzureDevOps, Kubernetes, SASS, Node.js, RESTful APIs, JavaScript API for Office, Git.

Responsibilities:

• Build high performance and scalable SQL code to retrieve or update massive amounts of data.
• Maintain and tune the database servers in Burgiss’ cloud infrastructure.
• Pro-actively optimize existing SQL modules by introducing indexes, caching, or refactoring code.
• Provide technical guidance and feedback on code to other team members.
• Design, implement and maintain large-scale relational databases with complex sets of dataset relations that support business-critical applications and services.
• Develop data models, schema, and database designs that meet business and technical requirements for large-scale relational databases.
• Pro-actively monitor database performance and make recommendations to optimize database performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Develop, maintain, and implement database backup and disaster recovery plans for large-scale relational databases.
• Pro-actively collaborate with software engineers, data analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure data consistency, accuracy, and quality in large-scale relational databases.
• Actively participate in Agile SDLC execution, including daily standups, sprint planning, and retrospective meetings.
• Develop and maintain database documentation, including data dictionaries, standards, and procedures for large-scale relational databases.
• Ad hoc tasks as required by the management.
• Stay current with emerging database technologies and best practices for large-scale relational databases, and make recommendations for their adoption.
• Actively participate in on-call rotations and respond to database-related incidents as needed.
• Understanding of and active participation in the establishment and/or maintenance and execution of CI/CD processes.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, Finance, or equivalent and relevant job experience;
• High fluency in programming with SQL.
• Demonstrated experience with large-scale database designs in Oracle or SQL Server.
• At least 7 years of overall career experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining large-scale relational databases with complex sets of dataset relations with 3+ years of experience in building SQL code and maintaining SQL servers.
• Deep expertise in database technologies such as MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and other relational database management systems.
• Experience with database performance tuning, indexing, and optimization for large-scale relational databases.
• Experience with database security and compliance, including data encryption, access controls, and auditing for large-scale relational databases.
• Knowledge of and/or experience with cloud database technologies, such as AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, or Google Cloud SQL for large-scale relational databases.
• Experience with Agile SDLC execution, including daily standups, sprint planning, and retrospective meetings.
• Experience with SQL database projects, including the development, maintenance, and deployment thereof as it relates to dacpac files, DDL and DML migrations.
• Demonstrable understanding of and participation in the establishment and/or maintenance and execution of CI/CD processes.
• Experience with writing highly tuned numerical SQL code is a plus.
