Senior Disaster Management Officer at Nelson Mandela Bay Metro

Qualification and experience required:

• Relevant tertiary qualification, preferably in Disaster (Risk) Management.
• Five to eight years’ experience in the field of Disaster (Risk) Management, of which two at Disaster (Risk) Management Officer level.
• DMISA registration: Associate.
• Computer literacy - MS Office applications.

Key attributes and competencies:

• Knowledge of disaster management legislation, procedures, and best practices.
• Risk identification, assessment, and evaluation, disaster risk reduction, prevention, and mitigation.
• Emergency and contingency planning, Disaster Management policy implementation and compliance, advisory and consultation skills.
• Public safety inspection and safety certification, incident investigation and complaint resolution.
• Budget planning and expenditure control, fleet, equipment and stockpile management.
• Emergency response coordination.
• Leadership and supervision, performance management and training, mentoring and coaching, report-writing and administrative skills.
• Analytical thinking and problem-solving, integrity and professional ethics.
