Lead the development and execution of a robust content strategy focused on mass market storytelling across multiple platforms.
Manage the commissioning process for original mass market content, from pitching to concept development to negotiating deals and overseeing development.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with writers, directors, producers, and talent within the black community to identify and develop compelling projects.
Oversee all aspects of production, including budgeting, scheduling, casting, and creative direction, to ensure high-quality content delivery.
Provide creative direction and feedback to content creators, ensuring that commissioned projects align with our brand values and resonate with the platform’s audiences.
Collaborate with internal teams, including development, production, marketing, and distribution, to align content initiatives with overall business objectives.
Serve as a creative mentor and coach to junior producers and production teams, providing guidance and support throughout the content creation process.
Stay informed about industry trends, audience preferences, and cultural shifts to inform content decisions and drive innovation.
Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and festivals to network, promote our brand, and identify partnership opportunities.

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in film, television production, communications, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in television production, with a focus on developing and producing content for black audiences.
Proven track record of successfully commissioning and developing, producing, and delivering high-quality television projects that resonates with diverse audiences on time and within budget.
Strong network of industry contacts within the African community, including writers, directors, producers, and talent.
Strategic thinker with the ability to translate creative vision into actionable plans and measurable results.
Passionate advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion in media representation, with a demonstrated commitment to amplifying underrepresented voices.
Proficiency in industry-standard production tools and software, including scheduling and budgeting software.
