Senior Finance Analyst: Billing & Analytics at Robert Walters

• A leading South African business solutions group specialising in technology and connectivity solutions is looking for a Senior Finance Analyst: Billing & Analytics to oversee billing operations while providing detailed financial analysis, reporting and insights. The role is highly analytical, with a strong focus on advanced Excel, dashboards, reconciliations, billing data analysis and identifying trends, variances and revenue opportunities.

What you'll do

• Oversee and analyse the end-to-end billing process, ensuring accuracy, completeness and timely monthly processing.
• Analyse high volumes of billing data to identify trends, anomalies, variances, errors and potential revenue leakage.
• Develop and maintain billing dashboards, reports and analytical tools to provide management with clear and actionable insights.
• Perform detailed reconciliations between supplier, customer and internal billing data.
• Investigate billing discrepancies and quantify the financial impact of errors, missed billing or incorrect pricing.
• Analyse pricing, VAT, discounts, credits, refunds, commissions and rebates to ensure billing accuracy.
• Monitor monthly billing cycles and investigate unusual movements or exceptions.
• Prepare management reports, dashboards and exception reporting to support decision-making.
• Perform commission calculations and analyse billing and revenue performance.
• Work closely with Finance, Sales, Operations, suppliers and ISPs to resolve complex billing and data-related queries.
• Identify opportunities to improve billing processes, controls, reporting and data accuracy.
• Use data and analysis to identify opportunities to improve billing and revenue performance.
• Provide guidance and support to the billing team, including reviewing output and assisting with complex queries and escalations.

Requirements:

• Advanced Microsoft Excel – PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, complex formulas and large datasets.
• Strong data analysis, reconciliation and reporting skills.
• Experience developing and maintaining dashboards and management reports.
• Strong billing and revenue analysis experience.
• Ability to identify trends, anomalies, variances and revenue leakage.
• Strong numerical and financial analytical skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Strong problem-solving and investigative ability.
• Ability to turn complex data into clear and actionable business insights.
• Power Query experience would be highly advantageous.
• Experience with Power BI or other BI/reporting tools would be advantageous.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
