    Senior Financial Manager: Transactional NIR Analysis

    • Nedbank is looking for a Senior Financial Manager to join a high-impact finance team focused on transactional non-interest revenue (NIR) and related cost optimisation within a complex, data-rich banking environment. This role sits at the intersection of finance, data, and commercial strategy, offering an opportunity to move beyond traditional reporting into insight-led, value-adding finance.
    • You will work with large, complex datasets across multiple transactional products, developing advanced data manipulation, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities while gaining deep exposure to revenue drivers, pricing models, product economics, and cost structures. 
    • The role offers strong exposure to senior stakeholders and the opportunity to influence business outcomes through data-driven insights and commercial recommendations. Operating within a leancollaborative team, you will benefit from continuous coaching, cross-skilling, and exposure to adjacent areas such as value-added services and fintech-like environments.

    Job Purpose

    • To drive value through analysis, management, and optimisation of transactional non-interest revenue (NIR) by combining strong financial expertise with deep data interrogation.
    • The role ensures alignment between financial performance and underlying transactional data, identifies revenue leakage, and delivers insights to support business decision-making across a complex transactional product environment.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Analyse large, complex datasets across multiple transactional products and revenue streams to understand performance drivers and trends at a granular level
    • Perform detailed trend, variance, and anomaly analysis to identify movements in revenue, isolate root causes, and highlight risks and opportunities impacting financial

    • Proactively identify, investigate, and resolve revenue leakage, missed billing, and pricing inconsistencies, ensuring all revenue due is accurately recognised and collected 
    • Reconcile general ledger outputs to underlying transactional and product-level data, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and alignment between financial reporting and
    • operational drivers
    • Prepare and review budgets, forecasts, and financial reports, incorporating data-driven insights and ensuring alignment to business strategy and performance expectations
    • Provide clear, concise, and actionable insights, explanations, and recommendations to stakeholders, translating complex data into meaningful commercial narratives
    • Engage cross-functionally with finance, product, operations, and technology teams to investigate anomalies, validate data, and resolve discrepancies effectively
    • Drive enhancements in processes, reporting frameworks, and data utilisation, improving efficiency, accuracy, and the overall quality of financial insight generated
    • Take ownership of improving visibility into revenue performance and drivers, enabling more proactive and informed decision-making across the business
    • Provide guidance, support, and coaching within the team, ensuring high standards of analytical rigour, attention to detail, and delivery excellence

    Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

    • Professional Qualifications/Honour’s Degree

    Preferred Qualification

    • Chartered Accountant

    Minimum Experience Level

    • 5+ years post-articles experience (CA) or equivalent, within financial management, FP&A, or commercial finance roles.
    • Proven experience working in data-intensive, analytical environments, with the ability to interrogate large datasets, perform trend and variance analysis, and identify anomalies impacting financial performance.
    • Demonstrated capability in revenue or commercial finance, including analysing revenue drivers (pricing vs volume), identifying revenue leakage, and resolving financial discrepancies across complex product sets.
    • Strong track record of reconciling general ledger outputs to underlying transactional or operational data, and translating insights into clear, actionable recommendations that support business decision-making.
    • Experience engaging with cross-functional stakeholders to investigate issues, improve processes, and enhance overall business performance. 

    Preferred Experience

    • Experience within banking, or highly data-driven environments will be advantageous.
