We are seeking an experienced Senior Grower to lead the production management of greenhouses, ensuring the delivery of high-quality plants that meet forecasted quotas.
This role oversees climate control, irrigation, pest and disease management, crop production planning, and staff development. You will play a critical role in driving operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement in plant health and yield outcomes.
Qualifications & Experience
Matric plus a Degree in Horticulture or related field.
Proven track record in greenhouse management with progression into a senior grower role.
Strong computer proficiency: Microsoft Office and Priva Systems.
Competencies & Skills
Leadership and team supervision.
In-depth knowledge of crop production and plant health.
Strong problem-solving and attention to detail.
Excellent time management, reporting, and communication skills.
Innovative mindset with commitment to continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee 8 x 1.3 ha greenhouses, a 576 m² nursery, and 9 climate zones.
Manage irrigation, heating, mist cooling, and climate systems for optimal conditions.
Implement sowing, seedling production, and planting schedules to meet yield targets.
Ensure compliance with EuroGAP and client quality standards.
Direct, train, and mentor Assistant Growers, Technical Assistants, and Production Supervisors.
Monitor crop health, apply biologicals, and manage pest/disease control.
Prepare production reports, crop forecasts, and trial evaluations.
Maintain greenhouse hygiene, facility integrity, and equipment functionality.
