Senior Lab Analyst: Pesticides at Bureau Veritas

Introduction

• Bureau Veritas M&L Laboratories is recruiting a Senior Analyst to be based in Ormonde, Johannesburg.
• Perform all analytical activities, and technical support pertaining to chemistry.

    Minimum Requirements and Skills

• A tertiary qualification with BSc or National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry
• Chemical field minimum of 4 years Laboratory experience.
• Good communication skills (verbal and written)
• Analytical qualification
• PC-skills
• Fluent in English and local language
   

Job Specification

ACCOUNTABILITIES

• To be fully aware of the policies and practices of the company as specified in the current Quality Management Manuals.
• Perform LC-MS workflow including sample preparation, method development and execution, data acquisition and analysis, and report writing
• To conduct and perform method validations.
• To conduct and perform method development.
• To review and evaluate raw data.
• Ensure department performs tests timeously and accurately.
• To ensure that all products are tested and analysed in accordance with instructions, international and/or client prescribed methods.
• To maintain a healthy and safe working environment including good housekeeping and proper waste disposal.
• To ensure adherence to the Company PPE Policy (wear and use protective clothing and safety items issued).                                                   
• Reporting all deviation, OOS, change control to Operational Supervisor/Operational Manager/Study Director/Quality.
• To ensure that instruments are calibrated and maintained according to requirements and Annual Programmes and that record thereof are kept up to date.
• Comply with Principles of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
• Design, supervise, and interpret quality control equipment, techniques, and protocols.
• To be deemed competent, be able to comply with the following competency criteria:
• Must participate with staff in proficiency testing and also evaluate, summarize and plot proficiency data obtained for all their staff, including themselves.
• Monitor Control charts.
• To maintain the confidentiality of all M&L information.
   

AUTHORITY

•      To submit all results obtained during any work performed to the Operational Manager/Study Director.
•     Review method and validations
•     Review signature of raw data.
•      Interpret analytical results, including proficiency, and offer corrective action.
•       Source relevant proficiency testing schemes.
•       To hold staff meetings.
•       Perform staff witnessing and deeming competent.
•     Attend Internal/External audits.
•       To use all equipment.
