Define and drive the Group L&D strategy aligned to the overall Group business strategy.
Create and implement a platform for compliance, legal, technical, leadership, and functional training across all business units.
Lead the design and implementation of world-class development programs across mining, construction, manufacturing, and services sectors.
Ensure developmental training programs meet high standards and are approved through fair, transparent governance processes.
Manage and develop the Group L&D team across multiple sites and functions
Integrate L&D initiatives with broader Talent Management, Career Development, Performance Management, Succession Planning, and Employee Retention strategies.
Ensure compliance with all HR, Employment Equity, Skills Development, and Mining Health & Safety legislation.
Build and sustain strong relationships with all internal and external stakeholders (executives, managers, SETAs, auditors, regulators, contractors, and community representatives).
Oversee group-wide L&D budgets, ensuring financial discipline, cost-effectiveness, and value creation.
Maintain accreditation status, ensure quality assurance of training, moderation, and assessment processes.
Develop and maintain accurate records, statistics, and reports (monthly, quarterly, and annually).
Identify and implement new Learning Management Systems (LMS), digital learning platforms, and innovative learning technologies.
Support SLP (Social and Labour Plan) targets through skills development and community training programs.
Ensure continual alignment with safety standards under the Mine Health and Safety Act, 1996.
Implement process improvements and efficiency projects across the L&D function.
Act as a key advisor to the Senior HR Manager and Executive Leadership on all matters related to Learning & Development and Organisational Development (OD).
Requirements
Qualifications
Minimum - Honors Degree Industrial Psychology, or Education, Human resources Management.
Master’s degree (advantageous) in: Business Leadership (MBL) / MBA (with Talent/L&D focus).
Coaching or Leadership Development accreditation.
Assessor and Moderator Accreditation (registered with ETDP SETA if in South Africa).
Registered Skills Development Facilitator (SDF).
Certifications in Digital Learning or Instructional Design (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook; LMS platforms advantageous).
MS Dynamics 365 exposure/experience.
Job Specific Experience
Minimum 10 years’ experience in Human Resources Development across mining, construction, manufacturing, and/or services industries.
Minimum 5 years in a senior management or leadership role within L&D.
Deep knowledge of South African Labour Law, Skills Development Legislation, and Health and Safety legislation.
