    Senior Lecturer: Financial Management

    Summary of position

    • We are seeking a highly motivated lecturer to join our team to teach digital competencies, participate in research activities, and engage in community engagement activities. As a lecturer for business information systems, you will be responsible for designing and delivering high-quality lectures that equip students with the necessary digital competencies to meet the requirements of the SAICA CA2025
    • Competency Framework. Some of the principles that will be taught include, but are not limited to, advanced Microsoft Excel, accounting software, digital collaboration platforms, information technology strategy and governance, data analytics and management, cybersecurity and information management, artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, and automation.

    Requirements:

    • Qualified Chartered Accountant South Africa CA (SA), or a relevant Master’s in one of the main fields of Accountancy;
    • A certificate in data analytics and management/cloud computing/cyber security/advanced Excel/digital transformation, or a related field will be an added advantage;
    • A strong understanding of digital competencies and the ability to teach the key concepts and principles;
    • A commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of Information Technology;
    • Proper understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS);
    • Critical and logical thinking, problem solving, and good interpersonal skills are vital;

    Duties:
    The incumbents will be required to:

    • Develop and teach courses on digital competencies,
    • Keep up to date with the latest developments in the field of information technology and incorporate new knowledge and best practices into teaching materials.
    • Collaborate with other lecturers in the School to ensure the curriculum is aligned with the SAICA competency framework, industry needs and trends.
    • Provide academic leadership, mentoring and support to other staff members on digital competencies;
    • Provide and coordinate lectures, tutorials, and student mentorship.
    • Develop, evaluate and regularly update study material in line with the curriculum to ensure improvement in quality;
    • Set formative and summative assessments;
    • Plan, organise and manage own time and workload effectively to ensure deadlines are met;
    • Contribute to the development of research projects and other academic initiatives in the field of Digital competencies.
    • Participate in community engagement and outreach programmes;
