Minimum Requirements – Lecturer

• Master's Degree in Civil Engineering. All base qualifications must be in Civil Engineering.
• At least two (2) years’ higher education academic experience or relevant industrial experience at the appropriate senior level.

Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA):

• Preference will be given to registered applicants.
• If not registered, registration within 12 months of employment will be a condition of appointment.

• A Doctoral Degree in Civil Engineering. All base qualifications must be in Civil Engineering.
• At least four (4) years’ higher education academic experience or relevant industrial experience at the appropriate senior level
• Demonstrable ability to carry out research as evidenced by a publication in accredited journals.
• Track record of successful postgraduate supervision.
• Evidence of appropriate academic and research leadership
• Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA)
• Preference will be given to registered applicants.
• If not registered, registration within 12 months of employment will be a condition of appointment.

• Lecturing on the Civil Engineering Programme
• Develop, contribute and produce and generate new knowledge through research outputs.
• Develop innovative teaching and learning materials.
• Quality assurance of the programmes
• Supervise and mentor undergraduate and post-graduate students.
• Contribute to research outputs through participation in research activities.
• Assistance with departmental administration
• Promotion of community participation, linkages, outreach and industry liaison
• Curriculum and programme development
• Assessment and academic development
