Senior Lecturer at Vaal University of Technology

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Key performance areas include, but are not limited to:

• Develop learning material;
• Deliver lectures on Logistics and Supply Chain Management-related subjects;
• Prepare study guides and assessments;
• Liaise with industry, professional bodies, and other educational institutions;
• Supervise postgraduate students;
• Contribute to the management of the department;
• Undertake research and community engagement duties;
• Attend departmental and faculty meetings;
• Manage personal, departmental and academic administration;
• Undertake departmental delegations and act on behalf of the Head of the Department, where required.

APPLICATION CRITERIA:

Qualifications and Experience:

• An appropriate doctoral degree in Logistics and/or Supply Chain Management, or a closely related field;
• At least five years’ of lecturing experience at a recognised institution of higher learning;
• Evidence of research publications in accredited journals and of academic conference papers is required;
• Evidence of successful postgraduate supervision is required;
• Membership of relevant professional bodies will be an added advantage;
• Industry-related experience will be an advantage;

Skills:

• The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong teaching, facilitation, and presentation abilities.
• They will possess well-developed planning and organisational skills, complemented by good interpersonal and time management capabilities.
• The candidate should exhibit sound problem-solving ability, be computer-literate, demonstrate initiative, and have the capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
