Senior Manager (Maintenance Plan&Works) at eThekwini Municipality

Key Responsibility Areas:

• Responsible for maintenance planning, estimating and scheduling to provide an efficient customer service.
• Plans, controls and manages the branches activities by keeping abreast of regulation, legislation and by-laws to meet strategic long and short term goals.
• Actively support and promote safety and accident prevention, maintain high level of commitment and participate in the implementation of safety programmes.
• Responsible for financial management i.e. preparing and presenting capital and operating budgets and monitoring and controlling expenditure within such budgets.
• Procure materials and services by determining the requirements for specific projects to ensure timeous service delivery.
• Responsible for the recruitment of staff, monitoring the performance, training and development of staff and contractors and maintaining effective industrial relations.
• Comply with legislative and regulatory requirements.
• Manage resources (plant, equipment and other assets).
• Maintain, enhance and encourage good public relations.
• Liaise with political and community leaders, the media and attend to customer queries.
• Refinement, development and implementation of work procedures.
• Deals with ad hoc issues that arise within the Branch.

Essential Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Bachelor of Engineering (NQF Level 8) in Electrical Engineering
• Registered as a Professional Electrical Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).
• Valid motor vehicle driving license
• 8 years relevant experience of which 5 years must be post registration
