• Northland Power is currently seeking a highly motivated and professional individual to fill the position as Senior Manager Project Finance within the global finance team. Looking for all-round finance professional, Project Finance, +10y experience, Europe based and energy industry (offshore wind).
• The Senior Manager Project Finance is responsible for supporting Northland’s Financing activities in Europe and potentially Asia and may be asked to assist in other markets in which Northland operates. The Senior Manager Project Finance will report directly to the Senior Manager, Project & Corporate Finance who is Northland’s Project Finance Lead in Canada. She/he will work closely with all members of the Finance and Growth Teams, as well as the broader Northland organization.
• The Senior Manager Project Finance will join the team of professional colleagues with backgrounds in finance, engineering and law in the origination, development and execution of sustainable energy asset investments for Northland Power.
• Northland is likely to expand its business in Europe and Asia through a combination of greenfield development, M&A and entry into joint ventures, be that with local developers for onshore-based projects and/or with similar companies to Northland for developing or bidding for offshore wind or other renewables projects. Because of this, experience in financing of greenfield development projects, of acquisition financing for project asset purchases and of structured financing solutions for portfolios and equity investments in project vehicles is desired.

Key Accountabilities

• Manage and/or support smooth execution of financing processes to prepare offering materials and financial model, review documentation, and manage external legal, technical, market, insurance, and other advisors;
• Support the growth of Northland through the evaluation and execution of international project financings
• Support the preparation of compelling and concise materials to external and internal stakeholders during the financing process, including lender presentations and information memoranda;
• Support and/or manage the structuring and negotiations of financings, including term sheets, definitive documentation, and other related agreements;
• Support and/or manage relationships with banks and other lenders active in relevant markets and sectors
• Provide support in the research of bank and institutional lenders, advisors, and other project finance market participants;
• Stay abreast with trends and key market terms to enable Northland to underwrite growth opportunities with confidence;
• Execute other assignments and responsibilities as required by Northland.

Education & Experience

• University Degree with 10+ years of relevant experience with a Sponsor (independent power producer, developer, principal investor, infrastructure or pension fund), lending institution (bank, debt fund), or with an advisor; End-to-end experience of financing renewable transactions is mandatory;
• Experience in development and project financing of large infrastructure projects, preferably Offshore Wind;
• All-round finance professional;
• Deep Project finance knowledge;
• Excellent understanding of project finance and debt capital markets;
• Preferably with experience in power and renewables, energy industry, or infrastructure;
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the ability to redesign and streamline processes;
• Ability to prioritise effectively, excellent organizational and administrative ability;
• Strengths and abilities
• Highly-motivated self-starter demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement; proven experience in greenfield project financing;
• Strong problem-solving skills to gather, assemble, consolidate and analyze facts, draw conclusions and create solutions;
• Proven ability to think strategically and translate complex financial inputs into concise financial analysis and recommendations;
• Demonstratable superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor;
• Ability to interact with a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders and counterparties;
• Strong understanding of applied investment and valuation methodologies;
• Strong technical/computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Bloomberg, Capital IQ,);
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills;
• Experience presenting concisely and clearly to executive audiences; and
• Proficiency in an international language other than English would be an asset.
