    Senior Municipal Pool Lifeguard

    Requirements

    • A Grade 10 certificate
    • Valid Level 1 First Aid certificate
    • A valid lifeguard certificate would be an advantage
    • At least 24 months (4 seasons) relevant lifesaving experience
    • Proven supervisory experience would be an advantage
    • Physically fit
    • Clear criminal record and no pending criminal cases, awaiting trial and/or pending sentencing cases
    • Good communication and conflict handling skills and upholding the image of the City at all times
    • Drug free
    • NOTE: All shortlisted applicants will be required to undergo  compulsory drug testing
    • NOTE: All shortlisted applicants will be required to undergo  compulsory competency assessments. The main swimming pool season commences in October 2025.
    • Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals for appointment as seasonal staff on a NON-PERMANENT SEASONAL CONTRACT basis.
    • Successful candidates are required to work on an “as-and-when-required” basis up to a maximum of 40 hours paid per week, primarily over weekends, public holidays and during the school holidays and festive season periods.

    Key Performance Areas

    Job Purpose:

    • Perform lifeguard duties and to supervise and train staff (Lifeguards) to ensure the safety of patrons and to provide a clean and safe facility.

    Key Performance Areas include:

    • Supervisory and administrative duties and deputizing for the Line Manager as and when required
    • Lifeguarding functions including the following:
    • Patrolling, monitoring and controlling the pool and deck and diving areas
