Qualifications & Experience

• Matric / Grade 12 Diploma
• Tertiary qualification in cross border trade , international freight and/or customs procedures would be an advantage
• At least 7 years experience in the Freight Forwarding / Logistics Industry
• Abnormal freight experience is a minimum requirement
• Project shipment experience is a minimum requirement
• Tender Management experience is a minimum requirement
• Handling Complex project shipments and complete projects from start to end is a minimum requirement. 

Key Responsibilities

Estimate / quote submission

• Meet with client or understand RFQ from client
• Obtain estimates from service providers
• Vet service provider service offering
• Ensure costs are correct and in line with client requirements
• Estimate submission and clarification to the prospective client
• Follow up with client on potential business
• Obtain order confirmation from client if successful

Planning

• Commence project schedule /tracking report
• Identify potential risk areas
• Identify and arrange urgent permits required for abnormal loads
• Align all of the above with client expectations
• Identify contingency plans
• Revisit tender if scopes are added or removed
• Ensure we keep client and service providers informed of vessel details and activities

Execution

• Ensure expectations / deliverables are achieved
• Tracking report updated as required
• SLA’s with service providers enforced and improved
• Scope creep monitored and addressed with client
• Billing to client within contract scope
• Issuance of profit and loss per file
• Update Cargowise timeously
• Frequent visits to ports to maintain and improve current relationships
• Weekly visits to the ports to obtain potential new leads and opportunities.

Manage Projects

• Update of shipping plan and details
• Appointment of service providers, change when/if necessary
• Remain within the Projects budget. Should there be deviations, communicate this to client and keep written record
• Manage service providers and all stakeholders throughout the project
• Quality check of invoicing based on contract
• Control deliverables to ensure milestones are reached.

Reporting

• Weekly / daily reporting to client
• Monthly reporting to Project Manager of volumes
• Weekly / Monthly submission of Profit and losses.
