Be in possession of a degree in Nature Conservation or NQF Level 7 qualification
A minimum of 4- 6 years of related experience in conservation
Experience as an Environmental Management Inspector
Driver’s license (preferable code 10).

Responsibilities
Plan and execute environmental conservation management in line with the park’s strategic management plan in the conservation section of the park.
Ensure the ecological integrity of the park in line with the SANParks mission and vision and all relevant legislation, as well as the park management plan, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Manage, plan, co-ordinate and conduct effective anti-crime operations by effective use of available intelligence, manpower and equipment on a continued reactive and pro-active basis.
Identification and monitoring of internal and external developments impacting the park, to mitigate potential risk.
Natural resources management including the management and eradication of invasive alien plants, alien animals, unnatural soil erosion
Ensure all infrastructure in the section/park is maintained to adequate standards.
Ensure sound budget management by facilitating the procurement of goods and services, ensuring adherence to SCM policies and procedures, and overseeing inventory, stock control, and asset management.
Promote close cooperation with neighboring communities / private landowners and other role-players as part of constituency building and economic empowerment within the region.
Ensure active engage with stakeholders through participation in the park’s forum and other related structures.
Ensure the protection of the conservation estate and territorial integrity by enforcing compliance with the relevant conservation legislations.
Protection of endangered/high value species
Ensures that regulations, conditions, and procedures protect all SANParks’ staff and visitors.
Contribute to a more representative conservation estate in the area by implementing practices such as prescribed burning for ecological enhancement.
Ensure adequate control of visitor activities in accordance with the safety and security plan.
Enforces health and safety monitoring, recording, educating, maintenance, and improvement.
To positively lead, manage and develop Human Capital of the Section and encourage participatory management
Ensure the compilation and monitoring of performance contracts while managing the performance of BSP activities in the park.
