The Business Analyst helps to support and maximize the effectiveness of the Product Owner, supporting the creation of user stories to an adequate level of granularity, assessing options for technical and business feasibility and ensuring development is aligned to business outcomes. The Business Analyst is responsible for providing business information during release and iteration planning, as well as supporting the review and re-prioritization of the release backlog. Providing regular feedback by testing deliverables against user story acceptance criteria and validating that the product meets the business goals. Typically reports to the Chapter Lead.
Job Responsibility
Works closely with the Product Owner to clarify goals and business value outcomes;
Defines and prioritizes the user stories aligned to the capability roadmap;
Translates business requirements for the technical teams and discusses the technical feedback with business teams to achieve the business goal;
Ensures user stories are broken down to an adequate level of detail for delivery by engineering teams;
Supports everyday reporting, facilitation, and communication;
Safeguards or protects the business and users needs by verifying functionality, accuracy and completeness of the new requirements /change requests against the original proposal;
Supports the development and execution of acceptance tests based on acceptance criteria, verifying that stories meet acceptance criteria;
Analyses and reports delivery risks and opportunities;
Facilitates engagement with stakeholders for communications and decision-making;
Reads and interprets documentation such as requirements definitions, installation instructions, technical articles and procedure manuals, ensuring all documents are reviewed, clarified, organized, and conform to organizational standards;
Defines improvements to solutions and business processes.
