Senior Systems Engineer (VMWare) at Optimal Growth Technologies

Job Summary:

• We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer with 7+ years of experience to manage and maintain our IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have solid expertise in VMware, Linux, and Windows environments, ensuring system stability, security, and performance. This role requires a proactive professional with strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to design, implement, and optimize enterprise-level systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Infrastructure Management: Deploy, configure, and maintain VMware, Linux, and Windows systems, ensuring high availability and reliability.
• Virtualization & Cloud: Manage and optimize VMware environments, including ESXi hosts, vCenter, and virtual machines.
• Linux & Windows Administration: Perform system updates, patching, security hardening, and performance tuning for both Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) and Windows Server (2016/2019/2022).
• Troubleshooting & Support: Diagnose and resolve complex system issues, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal system performance.
• Automation & Scripting: Utilize PowerShell, Bash, or Python to automate system tasks and enhance operational efficiency.
• Security & Compliance: Implement security best practices, perform system audits, and ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Backup & Disaster Recovery: Configure and maintain backup solutions, ensuring data integrity and quick recovery in case of failures.
• Networking & Storage: Work with networking teams on system connectivity and storage management, ensuring seamless integration.
• Documentation & Best Practices: Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

Required Skills & Experience:

• 7+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer or similar role.
• Strong hands-on experience with VMware (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter).
• Proficiency in Linux (RedHat, CentOS, Ubuntu) and Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) administration.
• Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or scripting in PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
• Knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, and Windows security best practices.
• Experience with backup solutions (Veeam, CommVault, or similar).
• Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, firewalls).
• Strong troubleshooting and performance optimization skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications such as VMware VCP, Red Hat RHCSA/RHCE, Microsoft MCSA/MCSE, or equivalent.
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud).
• Knowledge of containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
