Duties and Responsibilities    

• Develop and validate analytical and operating procedures
• Carry out routine material/product analysis
• Plan and run technical project trials
• Analysis and reporting on factory trials
• Setup sensory and shelf life tests and report results
• Produce concept samples where required
• Produce process instructions
• Prepare mass balance and process specification sheets
• Prepare Boms and recipe costing files in SAP
• Develop new SOP’s and update existing NPD process SOP’s
• Review raw materials, process and product specifications
• Actively support manufacturing in troubleshooting
• Participate and lead in factory optimization projects
• Participate in validation and verification of processes and operating procedures
• Provide technical training where required
• Recommend, implement and drive process improvements
• Participate in customer complaints and investigations on product issues
• Initiate material, process and product change requests workflows
• Create workflows for product and material specifications
• Participate in SHE initiatives
• Participate in Opex and Capex preparation

Experience Required    

• A minimum of 3 years relevant experience in a food processing facility
• Ideally 3+ years’ experience in a coffee and creamer processing plant
• Strong project management skills
• Minimum Qualifications Required    
• A completed Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process/Industrial Engineering or Food Science Engineering

Knowledge Required    

• Process Engineering: P&IDs, processing and process control
• Evaporation, heat transfer, aroma distillation and spray drying
• Sound knowledge of mass and energy balance
• Data analysis and statistics
• Coffee and creamer technology
• BOM and standard output reviews
• Scada integrity verifications
• Water reticulation studies
