SHEQ Lab Coordinator at Samancor Chrome

Purpose of the job:

• To coordinate analyses on Raw Materials, Production Samples, Finished Product, Final Product and Water in a safe manner.

Job Responsibilities:

SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY:

• Participate and comply with SHEQ requirements (SHEQ Toolbox)

CUSTOMER RELATIONS:

• Ensure Customer satisfaction

BUSINESS PROCESSES

• Implement a quality management system in the laboratory according to the requirements of ISO 17025
• Monitor and manage compliance with statutory systems regulation and procedures
• Coordinate the activities and distribution of work in the Laboratory
• Manage Subordinates ‘s performance including training development and motivation
• Coordinate the activities and distribution of work in the Laboratory
• Coordinate the testing of non-routine samples and Round Robin samples
• Coordinate the receiving, storage and disposal of all samples in the Laboratory
• Conduct first line maintenance on Laboratory equipment
• Calibrate and verification of instruments
• Check and maintain the ICP spectrometer, Carbon and Sulphur analyser and XRF
• Check, interpret and process daily result
• Comply with statutory regulations and inspections
• Plan and schedule safety related work identified in the safety meetings
• Method development and validation for all existing and new methods
   

Analysing:

• Coordinate the activities and distribution of work in the laboratory
• Coordinate the testing of non-routine samples and Round Robin samples
• Coordinate the receiving, storage and disposal of all samples in the Laboratory

Equipment:

Conduct First Line Maintenance on lab equipment:

•  ICP spectrometer
•  Carbon and Sulphur Analyser
• Autotitrator
• XRF
• Sample preparation equipment
• Calibrate the above equipment
   

Reporting:

Check, interpret and process daily results:

• Raw Material
• Production
• Finished Product
• Water

Requirements

• Relevant National Diploma or Degree
• 3 years relevant experience
• Knowledge of SAP and MS Office
• Computer Literacy
