    Shift Millwright

    Job Description

    The role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of machinery and heavy equipment in industrial settings. The successful incumbent will ensure the smooth operation of machinery and equipment to minimise downtime and maximise productivity. Millwrights work with a variety of tools and equipment to assemble, dismantle, align and adjust machinery components to ensure precise functionality. Other duties include, but are not limited to the following.

    • Conduct regulary inspections and preventative maintenance of machinery and equipment to identify potential issues and ensure optimal performance of the Plant.
    • Install, assemble, and dismantle machinery and equipment according to specifications, and Sugar Industry standards.
    • Align and calibrate machinery and equipment to ensure accurate functioning and performance.
    • Repair or replace faulty machinery components such as motors, bearings, belts, gears, and other parts.
    • Perfom routine maintenance tasks and inspections in accordance with safety legislations.
    • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical problems or malfunctions using various diagnostic tools and techniques.
    • Perform standby duties on rotational basis and attend to breakdowns within acceptable time limits.

    Qualifications and Experience Required

    • Grade 12 with N3 recognised Millwright Trade Test
    • At least three years post apprenticeship experience
    • To have ability to work within a team
    • Proficiency in English (spoken, written and reading)
    • Ability to work on your own initiative and under pressure.
    • Effective communicator must be self-motivated and enthusiastic and be able to demonstrate the ability to investigate and solve problems as they arise.
