Shunter - VOPS Caledon at The South African Breweries (SAB)

Job Purpose

To safely shunt malt and barley trucks as per planning schedule and malting production requirements. To coordinate and assist in barley sampling and loading of malt rail and road trucks.

Key roles and responsibilities

Raw Materials handling and storage:

• Interpret and execute barley out loading and malt loading plans
• Interpret and implement storage plans
• Supervise temporary staff for barley sampling and malt loading activities
• Perform barley offloading and malt loading activities
• Plan shift activities to ensure efficient simultaneous barley offloading and malt loading
• Ensure and maintain a safe and healthy work environment  
• Co-ordinate autonomous maintenance and cleaning .

Perform administration :

• Ensure application of administration systems and procedures
• Ensure completion of all shift reporting systems
• Contribute to self and team development 

Problem solving

• Apply VPO techniques for problem solving and decision making.

Profile

• Matric
• Valid Locomotive truck drivers license
• 2-3 months on-the-job training
• 2 to 6 weeks on the job training.
• Ordinary communication skills
• Verbal ability. 
• Good eyesight in both eyes
• Numerate
• Physically Fit
