Job Description

As a (Snr) Payment Specialist, you will be responsible for the following activities : 

Banking facilities:

• To authorise inter-bank deposits throughout the Group as authorised signatory on all bank accounts as per delegation / mandate from the GM: Finance.
• To authorise payments throughout the group as authorised signatory on all bank accounts as per delegation / mandate from the Treasury Manager.
• Payments control:
• To perform a reliable and effective payment and collection process on all the different banking platforms ,TSA, NBE countries, Upbeat, Prima and MSCC (HUb).
• Ensure payments are released in a timeous and accurate manner, in line with company’s payment terms.
• Ensure performance and reliability of all banking platforms by proposing technical developments or problems solving whenever applicable.
• Petty Cash
• Responsible for disbursement and reconciliation of petty cash, in line with the petty cash procedure.
• Management
• Act as backup for the Treasury Manager

Context and environment

• Complex regulatory framework within the petroleum industry with ongoing changes over the years
• Technical changes/updates across banking platforms and SAP
• Low profitability culture across the organisation, resulting in poor variance analysis in the different business

Candidate profile

• As a (Snr) Payment Specialist, ideally you will possess the following : 
• BCOM Accounting/Finance (advantageous) or equivalent
• Minimum 2-3 years experience in a similar role ((advantageous)
• Comprehensive understanding of banking platforms and electronic payment processes
• Knowledge of Total Group reporting rules ((advantageous)
• Good working experience of the SAP system and good personal computer skills (Excel, Power point)
• Key competencies include good interpersonal skills, ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, analytical ability and attention to detail
• English is the working language
