Job Description
- To provide professional and holistic social work services by assessing the needs of People who inject drugs and implementing interventions and processes to meet their needs.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Social Work or B Social Science Degree from four-year College or university
- Minimum of at least two years related experience
- Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP)
- Computer literate in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Proficiency in English, Afrikaans and any other South African languages
- Valid code 8 driver’s licence
- Clear criminal record
Duties and Responsibilities
- Psychosocial support
- Facilitation
- Referrals
- Networking & training
- Record keeping & reporting
- Linkage to care
- Meetings and feedback
Skills and Competencies
- Knowledge of drug addiction and opioid substitution therapy
- Excellent communication interpersonal skills
- Empathy and understanding
- Ability to liaise at all levels and to work in a multi-disciplinary team
- Proficient in report writing
- Sound networks with related institutions
- Knowledge of TB and HIV/AIDS
