Specialist: Automation Engineer (IOT) at BCX

Core Description

Responsible for development of plant control solutions.  Identifies and rectifies a broad range of operational exceptions and error conditions and deals sensibly and responsibly with unexpected or extraordinary events or incidents. Responds to enquiries by users, specialists or others and is able to deal effectively with a broad range of problems of moderate complexity, only escalating those which need specialist or management attention. Provides general technical consulting on plant automation related solutions to customers and field service engineers.

• BCX policies and procedures (governance)
• Client policies and procedures (governance)
• Understand BCX values and ethics
• Operational structure (organogram)
• Automation applications and control systems

Skills:

• Application of specialisation areas (e.g. Industrial Information Technology (IIT), Plant Control and Automation Solutions (PCS), Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM))
• Interpersonal skills
• Conflict management skills
• Problem solving skills (both technical & soft)

Experience

• More than 10 years’ experience in Plant Automation Environment
• Work experience within Wonderware, Siemens and others
• Preparation of quotations and costing sheets
• People and project management
• B. Engineering or National Diploma in Engineering
• Any other post graduate certification will be advantage
• Product specific certifications (Wonderware, Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider)
• Registered as Professional Engineer with Engineering Council of South Africa would be advantage
