Specialist: IT Network Security at Vodafone Global Enterprise

Role Purpose:

• To implement, operate, and continuously improve secure, resilient network security controls—including Cisco FTD, Fortinet, Cisco ISE (NAC), VPN, IDS/IPS, and Algosec automation—using SRE principles to ensure availability, compliance, and rapid incident response across enterprise networks

Your responsibilities will include:

• Design, implement and operate network security services (Cisco FTD/Fortinet firewalls, VPN, Cisco ISE, IDS/IPS).
• Provide Tier-3 support, incident response, problem management and change approval; participate in 24×7 on-call rota.
• Run health checks and monitoring; drive continuous improvement (automation, rule hygiene, capacity).
• Meet compliance (PCI/SOX), manage rule exemptions and cost-effective mitigations using Algosec.
• Engage stakeholders and vendors; translate Vodafone requirements into effective solutions.

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

• Matric (Essential)
• 3 year degree/diploma in Computer Science or related (Essential)
• 3–5 years in network security engineering/operations. One or more of: Cisco CCNA/CCNP Security (incl. FTD), Fortinet NSE4+, Algosec certification/training. 
• Cisco ISE training, SRE Foundation, ITIL, cloud network security (Advantageous)

Knowledge and experience :

• Hands-on with Cisco FTD/FMC, 
• Fortinet FortiGate, Cisco ISE (802.1X, posture, TACACS+), VPN (AnyConnect/SSL, IPsec), and IDS/IPS; Algosec for firewall automation & compliance; 
• automation via Python/Ansible/REST; 
• Observability (SNMP, syslog, SIEM/SOAR). SRE practices (SLIs/SLOs, error budgets,
• Incident Remediation 
• Able to learn & apply Vodafone requirements.
