Ensure continuous improvement in product design, manufacturing process, cost, and quality
Developing new products in accordance with product directives that have improved cost, quality, perceived quality and new features that match the market needs with the highest profitability.
Cooking system specification development
Researching, evaluating, designing and optimizing products as per National and international standards (SANS and IEC).
3D and 2D design of products and metallic, plastic and packaging components
Improving quality, perceived quality, adding new features and cost saving projects for current products to have increased competitiveness
Project manage and ensure that new model projects and engineering changes are launched smoothly in production, being physically present in the production area with a hands-on approach.
Liaise with the materials planning department to conduct run-out studies for new model projects and engineering changes
Lead projects in conjunction with production engineering, purchasing, materials planning, quality and production departments
Lead trouble shooting and problem-solving activities
Creating and auditing Bills of Material
Maintain an effective quality system through regular audits and reviews to ensure compliance with SABS and ISO standards
Ensure projects are managed in accordance with Defy project management procedures
Achievement of factory Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and successful projects deployments.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Minimum of 5 year’s working experience in a manufacturing environment
6 Sigma – Green belt advantageous
Excellent communication skills
Proven experience with project management
Proven experience with problem solving
Experience of product development in a manufacturing environment
