    Strategic Partnerships Manager // Capital & Banking

    The Role

    As Strategic Partnerships Manager // Capital & Banking you will be part of a high-performance team that is responsible for creating and developing strategic partnerships with financial services providers to drive financial inclusion in Africa. You will report to the Head of Partnerships // Capital & Banking. The role can be based in South Africa, or in any of our live markets in Africa (Ghana, Zambia, Tanzania, Uganda or Kenya).

    If you join us, you’ll

    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with specific financial service provider counterparties by being the main point of contact
    • Explain the benefits of a partnership utilising sound banking and financial services knowledge with an ability to talk to portfolio strategy, reporting, compliance and data analytics
    • Continually monitor and assess the overall portfolio performance against agreed KPIs to identify opportunities to further optimise portfolio growth, customer utility and to enable long term growth of the digital ecosystem
    • Identify and share real-time, robust, reliable, insightful business information (which may include regulatory changes, macrotrends in banking and the economy in general) with relevant internal teams that can effectively influence the overall product and portfolio performance
    • Drive collaboration and shared consciousness with all internal cross functional teams to ensure all legal, regulatory, data, product, marketing, customer insights, finance and operations requirements are carefully considered to achieve revenue goals and manage risk

    Capabilities

    • Ability to coordinate and manage complex projects and operations with banking and other capital partners and JUMO resources in other offices
    • Ability to build trust and rapport across all layers of our banking partners, from project teams to business leaders and executives
    • High levels of intellect and judgement - Someone that makes the right trade-offs, takes right direction, weighted decision making in line with overall JUMO business model
    • Strong communication skills
    • Ability to break down complex challenges into measurable workstreams and to lead the delivery
    • Ability to work in a fast paced ever changing environment and highly adaptable
    • Excellent time management, planning and organisational skills
    • Exceptional communicator, intelligent and articulate with strong written and verbal skills
    • Confident personality with strong presentation ability
    • Ability to meet tight deadlines, multi-task, prioritise and handle a diverse workload
    • Decisive, detail orientated and enthusiastic with problem solving abilities
    • Deep knowledge and experience of how a bank operates, with the ability to identify and mitigate project or operational risks before they arise
    • Deep understanding of credit/loan dynamics, with the ability to communicate complex information in simple terms
    • Take full ownership and have a ‘buck stops with me’ attitude – an ability to work independently and to make it happen.

    What you’ll need

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business / Finance / Economics / Accounting or similar
    • Good understanding of financial products and performance, including credit risk, dynamics of lending, saving and some insurance
    • Understanding of doing business in Africa
    • Understanding of mobile network operators and the role mobile money plays as a revenue generation component for them
    • Understanding of financial services, mobile money and Mobile Financial Services
    • Ability and willingness to travel where required
