The Structural Mechanical Draughtsperson is working closely with the Project Section Leader to perform structural and mechanical engineering modelling and draughting activities in the Engineering business unit. Ensuring the achievement of departmental objectives and provision of technical input to other departments within the approved man-hour budget and compliance to SENET’s standards and procedures. The role is project specific and therefore incumbents are appointed to the position within a specific project for the duration of the project.

The Structural Mechanical Draughtsperson reports to the Project Section Leader and Delivery Manager: Engineering.

The role of the Structural Mechanical Draughtsperson:

• The production of fit for application Structural and Mechanical Engineering models and drawings
• Completion of all works within the approved budget and schedule constraints
• Responsible to ensure that all models and drawings are completed, accurate and technically correct
• Ensure that all information supplied for the commencement of modelling or draughting is informative, complete, and accurate. If not, then discuss with the Discipline Section Leader
• Request information and assistance if unsure of instruction
• Communicate all discrepancies, clashes, interfaces, misalignments, and incompleteness found on the model or on drawings to the Section Leader or Discipline Engineer
• Ensure that all drawings are checked by a Checker and that all relevant comments are back drafted
• Ensure that drawings have been interfaced and back drafted properly
• Produce design sketches for engineering calculation purposes
• Complete timesheets weekly in line with the correct WBS codes and to the project requirements
• Administrating Autodesk Advance Steel for drawing office. Configure Autodesk Advance Steel to company/end user standards

Qualifications

• Relevant draughting qualification
• Preference to experience in Advance Steel software
• Minimum 5 years Structural & Mechanical draughting experience
• Practical construction experience is advantageous
• Strong technical background with a broad multidisciplinary base in mineral processing.
