Technical Supervisor: Facilities - Johannesburg at University of the Witwatersrand

Main Purpose:

• To provide and manage an Integrated Property and Facilities Management Service to the allocated buildings/portfolio within the campus in the University.

Brief Description        
 Responsibilities:

• Implementing financial control on all activities by the maintenance Teams and Contractors.
• Implementing and monitoring of budgets for maintenance and contractors.
• Liaising with customers regarding the execution of maintenance and / or other work assigned to the maintenance office.
• Managing office in a manner that will enable effective and efficient customer focused service.
• Ensuring that the areas that have been maintained or repaired by the maintenance Teams provide a safe and fit for purpose environment for use by the University community.
• Ensuring effective management of service providers as per agreed scope of work.
• Setting out performance Outputs and measurements for each direct report.
• Managing of staff as per the University’s HR policies and processes.
• Gathering information on best practices within and outside the University in order to evaluate current practices and to adapt where necessary.

 Minimum Requirements:

• Degree (NQF Level 7) in Engineering/Operations Management (or in any related Facilities Management Qualification.
• Project Management Certificate will be an advantage
• Trade Test will be an advantage

Required Years of Work Related Experience:

• 3 - 5 years in service provision within a Built Environment.
• Desirable Requirements:
• Valid Driver’s license.
