Job Purpose
- You will apply electrical theory or related knowledge in testing and modifying operational or developmental electrical control circuitry and equipment and electrical machinery in industrial plants. In this position you will perform various skilled, journey-level tasks in installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of electronic control systems and electrical systems. Electrical Technicians modify electrical prototypes in order to correct operational deviations under the general direction of an Electrical Engineer.
Responsibilities:
Provide technical assistance and resolution to Electrical Breakdowns
- Attend to breakdowns during that occur during shift
- Trouble shooting of breakdowns using PLC’s
- Complete job cards for every job done in accordance to Bridgestone standards
- Carry out root cause analysis for every breakdown and documenting corrective actions
- Order Spares required to fix equipment breakdowns long term
- Comply to all safety regulations as stipulated in the occupational health and safety act
- Train and mentor others on the Maintenance team in the execution of basic electrical tasks
- Identify when external contractor/vendor is needed, and work in collaboration with contractor/vendor to complete work
Carry out Preventive and Predictive Maintenance
- Provide preventive and predictive maintenance of the electrical systems
- Suggesting and implement continuous improvement ideas to improve machine reliability
- Complete daily work orders as assigned and update team with daily work reports outlining progress and new issues
Assemble electrical and electronic systems and prototypes according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical principles, using hand tools and measuring instruments
- Follow electrical practice when doing a job, always keeping safety in mind.
- Use Correct Test Equipment
Install and maintain electrical control systems and solid state equipment
- Programming of PLC, and Drives
- Fault finding on PLC and Drives
Modify electrical prototypes, parts, assemblies, and systems to correct functional deviations
- When a new system is implemented, it must work correctly with the existing system.
- Update electrical drawings
Analyse and interpret test information to resolve design-related problems
- Get all information before making decisions or alterations
Qualifications & Experience Required
Education, Master, other certification:
- National Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Trade Certificate in Electrical Engineering
Experience (years):
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the electrical field on rotation machinery.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the tyre manufacturing and automotive industry will be an advantage.
Technical Skills:
- Good knowledge of Programmable logic Controllers (PLC)
- Must have a good knowledge and understanding of production technology and tyre manufacturing
