    • To ensure the production of safe, innovative and excellent product at a competitive price for the Woolworths customer

    Job description

    • Identify and effectively manage Product Safety risks
    • Management of the processes during the manufacturing of ambient shelf stable products.
    • Assess the quality of products and processes in order to maintain the quality of products for the customer and to safeguard the reputation of WW
    • Implement business and technical strategy and involvement in category specific initiatives and projects.
    • Ensure products are manufactured in accordance with WW and legal requirements
    • Identify and execute innovative products and processes
    • Apply, devise and update technical policy in accordance with legal requirements and current established WW COP’s and guidelines
    • Assist suppliers in order to further quality, safety, trust and value and innovation in food products
    • Ensure continuous professional development
    • Excellent personal attributes that underscores team integration and execution
    • Managing the day to day relationships with the suppliers to ensure that they are operating to the required technical standards.
    • Develop and manage product specifications and technical packs to ensure products meet aesthetic and technical expectations.
    • Monitoring and continuously improving quality

    Minimum requirements

    • B Tech. in Food Technology or BSc Food Science
    • Minimum 7 years relevant experience, long-life shelf stable product experience would be advantageous.
    • Retail experience an added advantage
    • Knowledge of technical processes and principles (incl. Safety and Legislation, eg. HACCP, GMP, Supply Chain, TACCP)
    • Experience in sourcing and costing raw materials
    • Knowledge of packaging
    • Proven analytical and process ability
    • Strong sourcing and supply management experience
    • Ability to set and improve quality standards within supply base
    • Ability to drive technical and product innovation
    • Proven commercial aptitude - ability to understand and use financial indicators
    • Good problem solving skills
    • Ability to drive value optimization across product development and production processes
    • Good understanding of risk assessment and management of product safety
    • Team player
    • Quality / high standard mind-set
    • Networking skills
    • Computer literacy
    • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
    • Customer orientation
    • Project management skills
