The successful candidate will manage the execution, direction, and coordination of all transportation matters within the organisation. This includes managing budgets, organising schedules & routes, ensuring that vehicles are safe and meet legal requirements, and making sure that drivers are aware of their duties.
Minimum Requirements
Grade 12
Driver's License - unendorsed
Logistics qualification/degree will be an advantage
5 years' experience in the Transport industry
Fluent in English (Afrikaans & Sesotho will be an advantage)
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist with Budget
Ensure all vehicles are maintained in accordance with the Company Policy and applicable Acts
Ensure all vehicles are clean and load bodies sanitised before each load
Ensure Health & Safety and Food Safety standards are followed
Ensure all delivery vehicles carry the DC contact details and decals
Recording of monthly Vehicle Fleet unit temperature verifications
Ensure route schedules are maintained and reviewed from time to time as required to improve route profitability
Planning of distribution of store allocations in conjunction with the sales department
Ensure on route vehicle breakdowns are communicated through to the sales department to inform customers of the breakdown
To investigate all crew shortages and overloads in conjunction with Security-, Debriefing- and Warehouse departments.
To investigate all wrong product or quantities loaded and report to the Operations Manager
To investigate crew product shorts (COD) claimed on deliveries
To follow up on all customer complaints on deliveries, investigate and take necessary action if/when required
To follow up all on all stock returned and reason for returns
Recording of vehicle temperatures daily
Management of maintenance budget on vehicles
Maintenance and record keeping of individual company vehicles daily, weekly and monthly
Sleep-out monies to crew and administration thereof
To investigate when trucks are delayed and to liaise with customers and sales to address problem with the tracking on the vehicles
Obtaining and controlling of all orders in the transport department
Daily controls of fuel usage
Preparation of month end stats
Ordering of Diesel from supplier
To ensure card machines are charged and have sufficient thermal paper
Management of card machines issued to Driver per route
Allocation and control of crew to trucks on a daily basis
