    Underwriter

    Job Overview:

    • We are looking for experienced, passionate advisors who can make a difference by helping our customers when they at their most vulnerable and require support. It is never easy talking about debt, but you will create an atmosphere of compassion with your understanding and clear communication skills. You will have the ability to make a difference by not only delivering an excellent service for customers but look for the right customer outcome each time.

    Responsibilities

    • Evaluate credit applications (through determining affordability, ability to repay, creditworthiness and fraud risk) to approve or decline credit applications to £25K
    • Accurately work customer screening alerts, identifying target matches and clearing false positives and fully investigate fraudulent activity by analysing all available information including bureau data, contact details, bank account information and identity documents, to reach a decision on whether to lend
    • Follow existing fraud and credit policy/processes, whilst actively seeking out current vulnerabilities, or new ways of identifying fraud in our systems and ways to mitigate these
    • Responsible for end-to-end investigation of fraud claims with a final outcome which includes speaking with internal and external stakeholders via phone and email
    • Build and maintain effective relationships across the business, specifically across Consumer Finance, Credit Risk Analytics, Customer Operations and Collections.

    The Ideal Candidate will:

    This is a high impact role in a fast-growing business and hence the ideal candidate would be someone who has:

    • Proven experience in a customer service or support role.
    • Strong leadership and team management skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Analytical mindset with the ability to use data for decision-making.
    • Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
    • Knowledge of customer service software and tools.
    • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
    • Familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance requirements.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills - can explain complex information in a simple and easy to understand way

    Required Skills:

    • A strong understanding of FCA regulation.
    • Previous experience of managing a caseload and assessing cases for approval in a fast-paced environment
    • Experience within the secured lending sector
    • Experienced in Underwriting 2nd Charge or BTL mortgage applications.
    • CeMAP (desirable, not essential)
    • Salary to be discussed at the interview stage
    • UK Hours and Rotational Shifts
