Underwriting Analyst at Santam Insurance

What will you do?

• We have a position available for an Underwriting Analyst who will be based in Cape Town (Head Office) in our Client Solutions (Personal Lines Underwriting) department.

What will make you successful in this role?

The purpose of the role is to support with:

• Performance analysis of data and identification of corrective actions.
• Engage with actuarial to drive growth and improve profitability.
• Evaluate renewal outputs and monitor results.
• Analyse and build statistical models for various sets of data on regular basis to assist in determining business trends.
• Assist with report and process automation
• Contact person for IT report support and log prioritisation
• Pro-actively identifies phenomena to be tested and explored.
• Monitor results of all action plans implemented.
• Analytical support to internal divisions (Underwriting Services and C&P).
• Report writing and presentations.
• Manage data cleansing and data quality control.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree or diploma in Statistics or Risk Management is preferred.
• Advanced Computer Literacy (MS Office).
• Experience with reporting tools (Power BI, Qlik, Business Objects, Cognos or similar)
• Strong analytical capability is a requirement.
• 2 to 3 years general insurance experience will be an advantage.
