    Unix Linux Tech Lead

    The Unix Tech Lead is responsible for steering and driving infrastructure strategy and ensuring systems are operating optimally. The Unix Tech Lead should have vast technical understanding and experience in UNIX/Linux Infrastructure, Storage SAN Subsystems and Cloud Platforms. Knowledge and experience is essential to this role. The Tech Lead should keep current with evolving technologies and should be versatile, yet technically astute This individual should be innovative and creative in driving strategy, by taking ownership and responsibility of initiatives. The individual should research and justify technical decision-making whilst ensuring the vision of cost-savings to satisfy business needs. This individual will be responsible for ensuring that a strict level governance is adhered to and kept up to date as the environment evolves. 

    Experience and Qualifications

    • Minimum Qualification - Grade 12; RHCSA Certification
    • Preferred Qualification - RHCE Certification
    • Experience – 6 to 10 years experience in a Linux UNIX operating systems role as a Tech Lead

    Responsibilities

    • Contributes to cost efficiencies Identifies and escalates potential risks that may lead to increased costs. Demonstrates cost consciousness and awareness of personal contribution to costs. Increases knowledge and understanding of financial processes and adheres to required operating standards.
    • Ensures customer excellence through interaction with internal and external customers throughout all business activities. Adheres to the Organization’s shared values, service standards and Treating Customer Fairly (TCF) outcomes about customer interaction. Resolves customer dissatisfaction/complaints and takes ownership of the problem. Ensures that product knowledge and advice is technically accurate. Knows and understands customer needs to deliver a quality service. Plans for and maintains a sound working relationship with stakeholders.
    • Ensures service delivery of products and systems to meet operational requirements. Ensures stable infrastructure and high availability of systems are delivered within defined infrastructure parameters. Implements and manages systems and processes to meet operational requirements in all the organization’s call centers. Implements all new systems and enhancements to existing systems that support operations.
    • Manages the business processes for area of responsibility. Defines and implements, in line with the shared values and best practices, operational policies, processes and workflows. Defines the operational plan and targets for area of responsibility. Identifies innovative ways to improve business practices, processes and synergies to increase revenue, efficiencies or effectiveness. Creates an environment where creativity and innovation are encouraged and provides necessary guidance, coaching and support in this regard.
    • Manages the required resources to enable business performance and achieve business objectives Plans and implements human resources requirements for area of responsibility. Plans systems and technology requirements and enablers for business performance. Develops measurement metrics to evaluate business performance and behavior across area of responsibility through the use of benchmarked methodologies. Benchmarks internal practices against industry standards to establish best practices.
