VAT Specialist at Old Mutual iWYZE

Job Objectives:

• The purpose of this role is to ensure VAT compliance in the organisation.

Critical objectives and responsibilities

Responsibilities:

• Review the current VAT processes and control framework
• Provide ideas on how these can be improved and implemented.
• Implementation of the VAT system
• Review of the all systems within the organisation for VAT compliance
• VAT accounting, reconciliations and returns
• Work closely with all stakeholders within the business to understand the VAT impact
• Keep the business updated on any changes that are related to Indirect Tax

We are looking for an individual with the following attributes:

• Detailed understanding of VAT provisions, VAT system and VAT flow within an organisation
• Detailed understanding of the functioning of VAT for reconciliation purposes
• Demonstrable indirect tax experience
• Strong organisation, planning and project management skills.
• Excellent understanding of internal Indirect Tax controls.
• Comfortable challenging the status quo and looking for creative solutions

Qualifications

• B. Com Financial Accounting with Articles from a small firm
• Excellent proficiency in MSOffice (Excel, Word, etc.)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Advanced knowledge of Indirect Tax accounting and financial reporting processes.
• Strong business acumen & analytical skills with attention to detail
