    Warehouse & Logistics Manager - Modderfontein

    Position Summary

    You will be working as Warehouse & Logistics Manager and will be part of Electrification Business Area for Smart Buildings Division based in Modderfontein, South Africa. In this role you will be reporting to Sales Operations Manager and will be responsible for of warehouse operations, trade compliance and transportation. Ensuring warehouse and forwarders service level and productivity, in compliance with regulations, company’s guidelines and procedures.

    Your responsibilities

    • Proposing and managing the annual warehouse and transportation budget, operating within approved budget, optimizing resources and determining actions to address cost issues, in case of third-party logistics (3PL) set-up, monitoring warehousing costs and implementing costs productivity initiatives, owner of the site supply planning process, providing visibility of supply capacity and local supply objectives into S&OP process
    • Continuously improving operations, optimizing warehouse utilization and transportation process, managing the forwarder selection process, in case of 3PL set-up, collaborating with the logistics provider in order to promote and implement continuous improvement initiatives, reviewing and managing warehouse, forwarders KPIs, follow-up with process improvement plans
    • Validating KPIs issued by forwarders and 3PL along with the cost associated to their service, planning and monitoring the storage, delivery and dispatch of orders keeping stock control systems up to date, overseeing stock control and processes orders, in case of 3PL set-up, he /she is responsible of the 3PL management and service, managing the 3PL daily performance and cost, acting to ensure respect of associated KPIs and service level agreements
    • Ensuring compliance to company procedures and policies within the warehouse operations and 3PL services, setting up relevant control mechanisms and documents (e.g. stock control / count), managing forwarder daily performance and cost, acting to ensure respect of associated KPIs and service level agreements
    • Ensuring compliance of shipping with all local and global regulations, whilst optimizing the distribution network and customs procedures, taking full advantage of possible free trade benefits, working closely with transport partners on resolving issues and providing direction, developing an effective relation with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. 3PL, forwarders) and motivating, organizing
    • Encouraging teamwork within the workforce to ensure that productivity and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) targets are met, ensuring that group and local health, safety and environmental guidelines and directives are implemented and understood to ensure safety of people and resources, providing feedback into S&OP process of site’s ability to support the demand plan
    • Providing visibility of supply capacity and local supply objectives into S&OP process, owning the inventory or NWC check book for the local unit, is accountable for inventory within the site, also driving inventory optimization projects within the site, ensuring the right inventory level is maintained, optimizing it according to the company’s target while guaranteeing customer service level
    • Establishing and maintaining an inventory management processes for finished goods in line with company guidelines, responsible for the ICBK (Inventory check book) process and related periodical follow-ups / monthly reviews, running a short-term planning process or S&OE process, connecting planning with execution, providing feedback into S&OP process of site's ability to support the demand plan
    • Coordinating an appropriate response to unplanned events, supporting the profitable execution of customer orders, in coordination with business functions and supply units (feeder factories), leading regular discussions with supply units on inbound issues, planning parameters, reverse logistics, etc.

    Your background

    • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in supply chain management, logistics, business administration or a related field
    • Minimum 15 years of experience in 3PL background or from any MNC is required
    • Relevant certifications in Logistics management, with a strong SAP WMS and MM Knowledge can be advantageous
    • Knowledge of budgeting, cost control, and financial analysis within a logistics or warehouse management context
    • Knowledge of best practices in inventory management, transportation and distribution
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills for internal team communication and external stakeholder engagement
