    Warehouse Specialist : Pallets and Containers

    • Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) presents an exciting opportunity for a Warehouse Specialist :Pallets and Containers, to join the Midrand team at CCBA. The role will report to the Country Lead Warehouse Services

    Key Purpose 

    • To lead the end-to-end management and optimisation of returnable transport assets across the organisation by driving asset recovery, process excellence, supplier performance, digital enablement, and continuous improvement. The role ensures optimal asset availability, minimises losses, enhances operational efficiency, and delivers sustainable value through standardised processes and data-driven decision-making.

    Key Duties & Responsibilities    
    Key Outcome

    Returnable Asset Lifecycle Management

    • Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of pallets, crates, containers and other returnable assets.
    • Develop strategies to improve asset recovery, availability and utilisation.
    • Define replenishment and recovery models to optimise asset availability.
    • Drive initiatives that minimise asset losses and damage.

    Continuous Improvement

    • Lead continuous improvement initiatives that optimise pallet and container processes.
    • Conduct root cause analysis on recurring asset losses and operational inefficiencies.
    • Simplify and standardise business processes.
    • Identify automation opportunities to improve asset visibility and operational efficiency.

    Supplier & Service Provider Management

    • Partner with pallet pooling providers and service partners to optimise service delivery.
    • Monitor supplier performance against contractual obligations.
    • Support contract performance reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Collaborate with Procurement on supplier strategy and commercial optimisation.

    Digital Enablement

    • Act as the business SME for pallet and container management systems.
    • Define business requirements for digital asset tracking solutions.
    • Support implementation of system enhancements across ERP, Warehouse Management Systems and Transport Management Systems.
    • Promote digital innovation that enhances asset visibility and control.

    Skills, Experience & Education    
    Education 

    • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management or a related field.
    • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.

    Experience

    • 8–10 years' experience in warehouse operations, logistics, supply chain or asset management.
    • Significant experience managing returnable transport assets (pallets, crates, containers or similar).
    • Experience in enterprise process design and optimisation.
    • Experience working across multi-site FMCG or manufacturing operations.
    • Proven experience leading cross-functional improvement initiatives.
    • Experience with MSD and Warehouse Management Systems.

    • Enterprise Process Design – Designs, standardises and optimises complex logistics processes to improve operational efficiency and consistency across the network.
    • Analytical & Data Interpretation – Synthesises large volumes of operational and financial data to identify trends, risks and opportunities, enabling evidence-based decision-making.
    • Commercial Acumen – Understands the financial implications of asset management decisions and balances operational performance with cost optimisation and value creation.
    • Influencing & Stakeholder Engagement – Builds trusted relationships and gains commitment from diverse stakeholders across multiple business functions without relying on formal authority.
    • Systems Thinking – Understands interdependencies across the end-to-end supply chain and evaluates the broader organisational impact of operational decisions.
    • Continuous Improvement – Applies structured improvement methodologies to simplify processes, eliminate waste and drive sustainable operational excellence.
