A relevant BSc/BEng in Mechanical Engineering or BTech in Mechanical Engineering with five (5) years’ or more post-qualification experience
In-depth knowledge of design, project management, compliance verification with construction and environmental regulations
Exceptional communication skills and the ability to liaise with all levels of operations
Ability to supervise staff
High proficiency in SAP/MS Office packages and knowledge of CAD
A valid Code EB driver’s licence
Key Performance Areas
Forward planning and keeping abreast with technical developments in design and construction techniques, material engineering, water supply and water treatment processes
Providing leading design inputs, assessing design options and preparing designs for bulk water, wastewater and reticulation mechanical infrastructure
Mentoring and assisting in productivity, performance and development of technical staff
Financial control and determining the required budgets both capital and operating to undertake designs and project implementation
Overseeing and guiding environmental scoping and impact assessments
Compilation of contracts and procurement documentation aligned with City policies and Municipal Financial Management Act
Responsible for project management of multi-disciplinary project teams for investigation, design, project management, contract administration, construction supervision, commission and hand-over of future infrastructure, upgrades of present infrastructure and operational driven technical projects
Updating, developing and preparing of standard mechanical specifications
Compiling, updating, developing and improving of operating and quality procedures
Maintenance of infrastructure and protection of rights by ensuring that the correct maintenance is done on existing infrastructure
Ensuring relationship management, communication, managing project teams and working within multi-disciplinary project teams
Responsible for administration and drafting correspondence of a more complex and involved nature to facilitate the functioning of the Department /Branch.
