About the role    

• This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent HR graduate to gain real-world experience across recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, HR administration, reporting, and people technology while working alongside experienced HR professionals in our Meat Market business.
• The Youth Employment Service (YES) is a business-led initiative, in partnership with government and labour, that creates meaningful economic opportunities for young people and helps address South Africa's youth unemployment challenge.
• Through this 12 month programme, successful candidates gain valuable workplace experience, develop practical skills, and build a strong foundation for future career growth. This role offers an excellent platform to learn, contribute, and make a meaningful impact while gaining exposure to a broad range of Human Resources practices in a dynamic business environment.

What you'll do    

• Support the recruitment process including job posting, candidate screening, and interview coordination.
• Assist with the onboarding of new employees, ensuring a smooth and welcoming induction experience.
• Contribute to employee engagement initiatives to foster a positive workplace culture.
• Maintain accurate HR records and assist with HR administration tasks.
• Assist in preparing HR reports and analysing data to support decision-making.
• Support the implementation and use of people technology systems and tools.
• Collaborate with experienced HR professionals to learn best practices and develop practical skills.
• Participate in HR projects and initiatives aimed at improving efficiency and employee experience.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and labour legislation.
• Provide general administrative support to the HR team as needed.

What you bring    

• A recently completed degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Strong interest in developing a career within Human Resources and gaining practical workplace experience.
• Basic understanding of recruitment processes and employee lifecycle management.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and willingness to learn HR information systems.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
• Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining records and preparing reports.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and take initiative.
• Knowledge of South African labour legislation and compliance is advantageous but not essential.
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a commitment to learning and personal growth in the HR field.
